Consistent Performance Despite Slower Pace Mike Anderson completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon in 5:02:55 with a pace of 22:40 min/mile. This year, he moved down five places in his division to 65th in the O50-54 category. A notable effort was made during the climb, particularly given the challenging conditions above the tree line where Mike maintained a steady pace despite increasing altitude and its impact on performance. Analyzing Mike's splits, he excelled early with a 10:27 min/mile at Ruxton and 12:26 min/mile by Hydro Street. However, in the high-altitude sections from A-Frame onward, a slowdown was noted with a 33:34 min/mile split by the finish. Compared to his performance last year, where he finished in 4:51:44, this year indicates that tougher conditions or additional fatigue could have influenced a slightly slower overall time. Building on endurance for high-altitude portions can be beneficial for future races.
