Persisting Through Elevation Challenges Robert Rose completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent with an impressive performance. He finished the half marathon distance of 13.36 miles in 5:56:20, achieving an overall place of 1417 out of 2049 participants. His pacing was consistent, covering the terrain with an average pace of 26:40 minutes per mile. In his age division of 55-59, Robert secured the 54th position. Notably, despite the demanding course conditions, he maintained focus and demonstrated great determination. His ascent showed efficiency at the start, reaching Ruxton at a pace of 12:01 min/mile. As the elevation increased, pacing adjusted accordingly, with noticeable adaptability. For example, at Barr Camp, he clocked a split pace of 16:02 min/mile. The final challenging sections saw increased elapsed times, such as the ascent to the finish where the pace averaged 43:10 min/mile. For future events, a focus on pacing strategy for higher altitudes could enhance performance further.
