Consistent Climb Amidst Rising Elevation Zach Garcia completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon in 6:20:20, tackling 13.36 miles at an average pace of 28:28 min/mile. Starting strong, Zach moved up from a position of 1277 overall to 643 by the Hydro Street checkpoint. His performance peaked between the 0.43 and 1.23-mile marks, achieving a brisk split pace of 9:31 and 11:09 min/mile respectively. Sustaining this momentum at higher altitudes proved challenging. Past Barr Camp (7.91 miles, elevation 10,250 feet), Zach's pace began adjusting with the terrain, reaching 47:27 min/mile at Bottomless Pit. Notably, Zach briefly improved to a solid rank at 826 overall around the 1.5 Miles To Go mark. Despite the increasing altitude and challenges, he finished with determination at 14,061 feet. Focusing on the sections between Hydro Street and No Name Creek will afford opportunities to manage pace and prepare for altitude transitions more efficiently.
