Significant Improvement in Pacing and Placement Eric Saul completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon in 4:17:50, demonstrating marked improvement from his previous race at the same event in 2024, where his elapsed time was 5:28:51. This year, he achieved an average pace of 19:17 min/mile over the 13.36-mile distance, a notable improvement from the 24:36 min/mile pace he maintained in 2024. Eric's overall placement improved significantly from 1140th to 532nd, indicating a successful performance. Examining his splits, Eric maintained competitive paces throughout various segments. For instance, at the "Ruxton" marker, he ran an impressive split pace of 8:46 min/mile. Through challenges above the tree line, particularly from "No Name Creek" onward, his pace naturally slowed, yet he managed to finish strong, moving from 503rd at "1 Mile To Go" to 532nd by the finish. Continuing to build on these pacing strategies could yield further gains in future races, especially in those last few miles.
