Strong Climb to Second in Gender for Alicia Alicia Vargo, competing in the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon, delivered an impressive performance with an elapsed time of 2:49:30 over the 13.36-mile course. She maintained a strong average pace of 12:41 min/mile, achieving the 2nd place position in her gender category and in her overall division among females. Starting at 19th in her gender, Alicia quickly moved up to claim the top spot at various checkpoints before finishing strong in second. Throughout the race, Vargo demonstrated consistent pacing in the challenging later sections, indicating solid endurance and climbing capability. Notably, her fastest split pace of 6:16 min/mile was recorded early on between the start and Ruxton, while her final mile saw a pace of 18:04 min/mile due to increased elevation. Improving her split times in the later miles could further enhance her overall performance. Alicia's efforts in tough conditions exemplified her capabilities as a seasoned competitor.
