Steady Climb to New Heights Paul Piechowski completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent half marathon in 4:03:58, placing 28th in his division (O45-49). His overall position improved significantly from the start, moving from 1689th to 390th out of 2049 participants as he ascended from 6303 to 14061 feet. Paul demonstrated commendable pacing in the early stages, with his fastest pace at Ruxton (9:12 min/mile) and a solid climb to Hydro Street in 12:33. As expected, the most demanding segment of the race began above the treeline. The last three miles saw a gradual slowing of pace, culminating in a final split of 26:14 over 1.05 miles at a pace of 24:59 min/mile. Paul maintained a steady effort despite high altitude challenges, finishing with an average pace of 18:15 min/mile. To enhance future performances, a focus on adapting to high-altitude conditions may provide an edge in these demanding sections.
