Consistent Climb: A Steady Approach to the Summit McKenzie Meeusen delivered a solid performance at the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon, completing the 13.36-mile course in 4:31:18. Throughout the race, McKenzie showed significant positional improvements, starting from 1253rd place overall and moving up to 665th by the finish. Her strategic climbs were evident in her consistent pace during the ascent, with notable mid-race strength gaining her positions against the field. Focusing on her splits, McKenzie maintained a steadier pace in the initial sections, with her fastest being 9:14 per mile at Ruxton. The final stages above the tree line saw the anticipated slowing, with her pace peaking at 29:24 per mile in the last half mile. Despite fluctuations, McKenzie kept her composure, finishing 171st in her gender category and 27th in her division. Training to sustain a more consistent pace in the higher altitudes could further enhance her performance in future races.
