Consistent Improvement and High Altitude Determination Joseph DeMoor displayed an impressive performance at the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent, finishing the 13.36-mile course in 2:18:28. His overall pace improved to 10:21 min/mile compared to last year's 10:41 min/mile. Notably, Joseph maintained a top 5 position throughout the race and secured 4th overall, demonstrating significant consistency and strategic pacing through the challenging higher altitudes. His initial burst was evident with a 5:32 min/mile pace at Ruxton Hill, transitioning to a strong pace at Hydro Street with 6:36 min/mile, jockeying between the 2nd and 4th positions up to the final quarter-mile. When comparing segments critical to his elevation change strategy, Joseph's performance at "7.8 Summit" displayed consistency with an 8:38 min/mile pace, marking it as one of his stellar segments in the steady climb. As expected in high-altitude sections like "A-Frame," pace adjustments were necessary, resulting in a more reserved 12:51 min/mile. His progress over the past year has been commendable, reflecting dedication to altitude training.
