Consistent Pacing Amongst Altitude Challenges Otto Zimmermann, 40, from Skokie, IL, completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent half marathon with an elapsed time of 4:48:25 and an average pace of 21:35 min/mile over 13.36 miles. Starting the race, Otto maintained a steady tempo, achieving his fastest split pace of 9:48 min/mile shortly after beginning at Ruxton. As the course ascended, Otto navigated the varying altitudes effectively, showing resilience against the increasingly steep gradient and thinning air. In the later stages, especially beyond the treeline, the splits reflect the altitude's impact, with Otto's split pace varying between 25:42 and 31:07 min/mile.
