Steady Ascent with Notable Progress in Opening Stages John Frerichs navigated the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent with an elapsed time of 5:04:05 over a distance of 13.36 miles, maintaining an average pace of 22:45 minutes per mile. Notably, John showcased a promising start at the Ruxton split, covering the first 0.43 miles in just 4:01 with a brisk pace of 9:20, catapulting him up the ranks. He made substantial progress initially, climbing from the 1504th to the 685th overall position by Ruxton, and maintained steady pacing through Hydro Street. Throughout the remainder of the ascent, John's pace became more measured as he tackled higher elevations and the subsequent challenges. By the time he reached the finish line, he placed 94th in his division. Although the final 3 miles above the tree line proved demanding, as reflected in his pace fluctuations, his ability to maintain positioning among his age group showcases endurance and consistent effort. Continuing to focus on adapting to high altitude pacing could enhance future performances.
