Consistent Endurance in High Terrain Timothy Steffens completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon in 3:48:11, achieving an overall rank of 275 out of 2049 participants. Timothy maintained a steady pace of 17:04 min/mile, which placed him 11th in his age division of O50-54. Compared to his previous year's performance, where he ran the same course in 3:33:31, this year's run was 14:40 longer and approximately 1:06 min/mile slower. The race began with a rapid start, clocking an impressive 8:18 min/mile in the first 0.43 miles. Despite a slowing pace due to increased altitude and terrain challenges, Timothy consistently tackled each segment. Notable splits include a 15:05 min/mile pace up to the 3.2-mile marker and a gradual deceleration post 10.29 miles, with final splits extending between 22:07 and 24:14 min/mile. Moving forward, steady efforts in pacing during peak altitude can play a key role in improving performance.
