Strong Start and Tenacity in High Altitude Challenge Allan McCormick, aged 65 from La Crescent, MN, completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent with an elapsed time of 4:45:17. His pace throughout the 13.36-mile event was 21:21 per mile. Although the ascent posed significant elevation challenges, Allan demonstrated determination, especially at higher altitudes. He achieved a notable 13th place finish within his O65-69 age division among highly competitive peers. Allan began the race with impressive momentum, highlighted by his rapid ascent to the Ruxton checkpoint with an 8:57 pace and a strong 6th position in his division. While the later stages presented increasing difficulty, Allan maintained a consistent effort, culminating in a steady pacing through the final challenging splits. His timings between 1.5 Miles to Go and the finish showed strong perseverance, with valid adjustments paced against the 12000 feet plus elevation backdrop. Future races could see further refinement of race pacing as Allan capitalizes on his strong early start.
