Steady Ascent with Consistent Splits Lawrence Cannon, 53, of Salt Lake City completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon in 3:44:56, making it to the top of Pikes Peak at 14,061 feet elevation. His average pace was 16:50 min/mile. Starting with a swift pace on lower elevations, Lawrence hit his fastest pace of 8:06 min/mile at Ruxton. Throughout the climb, he maintained strong positioning, moving from 1123rd at start to 250th overall by the finish. Impressively, from "1 Mile To Go" to "Finish," Lawrence improved from 233rd to 250th overall. The most challenging section was evident in the elevation gain, particularly after "A-Frame" at 11,934 feet. His pace slowed to above 20 min/mile as he approached the summit. Despite the high altitude, Lawrence sustained his rank within the top ten for his division (50-54) throughout the race. With a little focus on altitude adaptation, significant gains can be expected in future events.
