Consistent Effort in High Altitude Challenge Deborah Baliko completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent half marathon with an elapsed time of 5:12:37, covering a distance of 13.36 miles and maintaining a pace of 23:24 min/mile. Notably, she placed 46th in her division of females aged 40-44, highlighting her strong performance in a competitive category. The ascent, starting at an elevation of 6,303 feet and reaching 14,061 feet, demanded significant effort, especially in the final miles above the tree line. Remarkably, her elevation gain indicated rigorous climbing. In the early part of the race, Deborah maintained a faster pace of 9:42 min/mile at Ruxton. Her splits indicate that while her pace slowed as expected due to rising elevation and fatigue, she managed to hold a steady position in her division. Between A-Frame and the finish, her split paces showed gradual adjustments upwards, reaching 37:11 min/mile at the finish. Fine-tuning those final miles can leverage her ability to maintain a steady pace under increased exertion.
