Consistent Improvement Marked by Strategic Pacing Soumya Ghosh from Richmond, TX, demonstrated notable progress at the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent, improving on last year’s performance with an elapsed time of 4:53:57 over a distance of 13.36 miles. This marked a substantial improvement in pacing, with his elapsed pace decreasing from 25:10 min/mile in 2024 to 22:00 min/mile in his recent race. Starting strong, but initially challenging a pace of 13:41 at Barr Camp mile 7.91, Soumya maintained composure through elevation climbs, especially noticeable from 10819 feet at Bottomless Pit where the pace shifted to 35:55. Despite decreased pace in the last difficult stretch above treeline at the 2 miles mark, with a pace of 27:44, Soumya managed to climb steadily, finishing 928th overall out of 2049 participants. He improved from 127th to 91st in his division since 2024. Further refinement on maintaining ascent efficiency in the final miles could bring additional gains in future races.
