Steady Progress Despite Challenging Conditions Denise Feda completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent in 6:41:56, covering the 13.36-mile distance with an average pace of 30:05 min/mile. Notably, she began dynamically, holding the 265th place overall and 16th in her division at the start. The initial 0.43 miles showed a promising pace of 11:25 min/mile. As the elevation increased significantly, reaching over 14,000 feet, pace adjustments were apparent, especially in the later stages where the pace ranged from 23:18 to 51:25 min/mile, reflecting the race's demanding nature above the tree line. Throughout the course, Denise navigated the tough splits strategically. Her positioning remained steady, transitioning from 1489th place at Ruxton to finishing 1614th overall. The most significant deceleration occurred after the "1 Mile To Go" mark, with the pace at 51:25 min/mile for the last half-mile. Denise’s endurance and consistency can be a foundation to improve pacing strategies in similar high-altitude events.
