Consistency and Endurance Pay Off in High Altitudes Mark Fiocca's performance at the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent demonstrated steady pacing and resilience as he finished the 13.36-mile course with an elapsed time of 3:43:24, averaging a pace of 16:43 minutes per mile. Though starting at the 383rd position, Mark showed significant improvement, rapidly moving up to 216th by Hydro Street with a split pace of 9:30 for the 0.8-mile section. Despite challenging conditions above tree line, Mark consistently maintained a strong position in his division, finishing 24th within the O40-44 category. Notable efforts include Mark’s early acceleration to an 8:05-minute mile pace at Ruxton and maintaining under 15 minutes per mile up to the 7.91-mile mark at Barr Camp. The final segments proved more demanding, as expected, with split paces nearing 25 minutes per mile. Maintaining focus on pacing during these crucial last miles could enhance future performances.
