Steady Start, Challenging Finish Alec Willard completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent half marathon with an elapsed time of 4:15:58 and an average pace of 19:09 min/mile. Notably, his initial pace was significantly faster, clocking an impressive 8:07 min/mile during the Ruxton segment. At the top of the W's, he settled into a solid 15:31 min/mile pace, maintaining consistency up to Barr Camp, where he recorded 15:23 min/mile. These early pacing efforts kept him competitively placed within his division. In the high-altitude sections above the tree line, Alec's pace understandably slowed. The mile leading to the A-Frame had a split pace of 23:12, while the final stretch to the finish line saw him at 30:36 min/mile. Over the years, Alec has faced a notable time difference from his previous race in 2024, where he recorded 3:54:50. Keen focus on tackling late-race sections could enhance future performances further.
