Consistent Performance with Strategic Elevation Gains Patrick High, competing in the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon, completed the race in 4:33:42, navigating from an elevation of 6,303 feet to 14,061 feet over 13.36 miles. His average pace was 20:29 min/mile. Starting strong from the 459th position, Patrick strategically adapted to the elevation, finishing 695th overall and 20th in the O60-64 age division with an impressive rise in placements through various segments. Patrick's splits reflect significant adaptation to the terrain, improving his position in high-altitude sections. Notably, he transitioned from 21st to 19th place within his age division between Barr Camp and the challenging terrain at Bottomless Pit. The final segment, over a half mile with a 32:07 min/mile pace, was one of the more demanding splits but concluded his race efficiently. Focusing on maintaining his endurance for later steep sections might further enhance performance in future races.
