Consistent Mid-Race Performance Despite Altitude Challenges John Bute from Dallas, Texas, completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon in 4:24:40, with an average pace of 19:48 min/mile. Noteworthy early progress was seen at the Hydro Street split, completing 0.8 miles in 8:51, with an 11:04 pace. John progressed steadily, improving his place to 511 overall by No Name Creek. His placement in the O45-49 division was strong early on, peaking at 42nd place by this stage. As John climbed above the treeline, the increased altitude and the final steep ascents notably impacted his pace. By the A-Frame split, his pace rose to 24:52 min/mile over 1.52 miles at an elevation of 11,933 feet. Despite this, he maintained consistency through the next few miles, finishing strong at the summit. The last 0.53 miles at a challenging 14,061 feet was covered in 15:44. John demonstrated perseverance in challenging conditions, which is commendable.
