Consistent Climb: Managing the Peaks Sarah Mason-Reeder, 39, from Colorado Springs, delivered a strong performance at the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent. Completing the half marathon in 4:19:32, Sarah maintained a steady pace of 19:25 min/mile over the 13.36 miles despite the challenging elevation gain. Her pacing at the start was vigorous, clocking 8:58 min/mile up to Ruxton. Her ranking climbed significantly from her starting position, closing at 544th overall with a sharp rise from 776th place at the start. Although her overall race time was slightly longer than in the previous year (4:09:59 in 2024), her performance through the final miles showed good perseverance. A notable challenge arose beyond Barr Camp, where split paces gradually rose—hitting 26:36 min/mile in the last stretch to the top. Tightening performance around these challenging miles could enhance her results in future races. Sarah's increase in elevation from start to finish was a noteworthy 7,758 feet, underscoring her accomplishment in these conditions.
