Steady Performance Despite Challenging Climbs Chris Elberson completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent in a time of 5:48:38, maintaining an overall elapsed pace of 26:05 min/mile across the 13.36-mile course. He started strong with an initial split pace of 9:54 min/mile at Ruxton and paced strategically, making significant positional gains early in the race. After beginning 99th in his division, he moved up to 62nd by Ruxton. As elevation increased, his pace naturally slowed. However, despite challenging conditions towards the summit, he consistently maintained division placement between 78th to 108th. In the final phase above the tree line, elevation peaked at 14,061 feet. Chris's performance in this high-altitude segment demonstrated resilience and persistence. Even as his pace decelerated to around 41:41 min/mile, he held his position tightly. In future events, aim to incrementally minimize slowdown as elevation increases for even better positioning against high-altitude challenges.
