Consistent Effort Despite Increasing Altitude Deante Covington successfully completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent with an elapsed time of 5:15:53, covering a distance of 13.36 miles. He maintained a steady pace throughout the course, averaging a pace of 23:38 min/mile. His performance ranked him 1132nd overall out of 2049 participants and placed him 123rd in the 30-34 age division category. Covington started strong, improving his position from 1567th at the start to 646th by the Hydro Street split at mile 1.23. The ascent from Bottomless Pit to A-Frame was the most challenging, with split paces of 35:39 and 32:23, respectively. Despite the high elevation challenges, his position consistently improved and maintained a competitive stance within the Open Male category. A focus on strategies to tackle the final, high-altitude segments could further enhance his future performances.
