Continued Progress in High Altitude Conditions
Megan Stimpson competed in the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent, covering 13.36 miles with an elapsed time of 4:22:33. This marks an improvement from her 2024 time of 4:30:13, trimming over seven minutes. Her consistent pacing saw an overall pace reduction to 19:39 min/mile from the previous 20:13 min/mile. Notably, her position improved slightly, placing 17th in the Female 40-44 division, compared to 15th last year. During the race, Megan strategically gained ground, moving up from the 1041st starting position to securing 575th overall. Key split improvements were observed at Ruxton, where she clocked a swift 10:15 min/mile, and at the half-mile mark from the finish, demonstrating consistent effort under challenging conditions. These splits indicate strong initial pacing and endurance over fluctuating altitudes. Focusing on maintaining momentum through the final challenging miles could further enhance her performance in future events.
