Steady Ascent Amidst Tough Conditions Bill Coffelt demonstrated enduring tenacity in the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon, completing the challenging 13.36-mile course in 5:02:55. He maintained a consistent average pace of 22:40 min/mile over steep and high-elevation terrain. Impressively, Bill began the race strongly, starting 387th overall, and maintained relatively steady positions near the midpoint at Barr Camp, reaching 697th overall. Despite the increasing challenge leading to slower splits and a final placement of 1018th overall, Bill's commitment remained unwavering throughout. Bill particularly excelled in the mid-segments, notably at the "7.8 Summit" and "Barr Camp," achieving paces of 16:46 and 13:36 min/mile, respectively. Moving forward, focusing on maintaining that strong pace throughout the course, especially as elevation increases, could provide improvements in future participation. Bill's performance was solid among his peers, placing 18th in the O65-69 division against a field of 2049 participants.
