Steady Advancement amidst Altitude Challenges Charles Arnold completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent, covering 13.36 miles in 5:29:45 with an average pace of 24:40 min/mile. Starting strong, he completed the first 0.43 miles at Ruxton with a pace of 10:25, but understandably, the pace decreased as the race advanced in elevation. Despite dropping positions early on, Charles maintained consistent placements in his division, finishing 42nd among his age group (O55-59) and 833rd in the open gender category. Charles demonstrated endurance, particularly in high altitude conditions. The section leading up to Bottomless Pit showed a slower split pace of 26:08, reflecting the challenging elevation of 10,819 feet. His split pace in the final 0.5 miles slowed to 46:04, indicative of the extreme conditions at 14,061 feet elevation. Future training focused on high-altitude conditioning could help Charles maintain stamina during the most challenging sections of the course.
