Consistent Climb and Improved Pace Raymond Bailey demonstrated significant improvement in his 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent performance compared to his previous race. With an elapsed time of 4:08:22, he cut nearly 52 minutes from his 2024 time. His average pace improved to 18:35 min/mile, highlighting his steady progress. Among over two thousand participants, Raymond secured the 437th position overall, showing a notable advancement from last year's 888th place. In the O45-49 division, he moved up significantly as well, finishing 34th compared to 80th the previous year. Raymond maintained a strong pace despite the increasing altitude, starting with a competitive 8:11 min/mile split at Ruxton and transitioning well throughout the course. His performance remained steady even in the final altitude-challenging miles, where his pace ranged around 23-26 minutes per mile. The consistency in nearing split times like 10:38 at "1.5 Miles To Go" and 14:00 to finish suggests improved endurance and disciplined pacing. For upcoming races, focusing on maintaining splits in the final miles could further enhance his performance.
