Consistent Progress Despite High Altitude Fran Andrade completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent in 6:24:50, covering a distance of 13.36 miles with an overall elapsed pace of 28:48 min/mile. Fran started strong, initially placing 302nd overall and 5th in the O60-64 division at the start line (elevation 6303 feet). As the race progressed and the elevation increased, times reflected the increased challenge of the course, yet Fran kept a steady pace. The mid-race saw notable consistency with no substantial performance fluctuations. Remarkably, Fran reached the "7.8 Summit" (elevation 9461 feet) in 1:57:12 with a split pace of 19:26 min/mile, predominantly staying in the 40-51 min/mile range from "Bottomless Pit" onwards as the altitude increased past 10,000 feet. The final miles showcase Fran's determination with a strong finish at 14,061 feet. For further improvement, focusing on maintaining pace in the latter splits could yield rewards. Overall, a commendable performance at a challenging event.
