Strong Performance and Consistent Pace Despite Elevation Challenge Wendy Locke, 64, from Boonton, NJ, delivered a solid performance at the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent with an elapsed time of 4:49:06 and an average pace of 21:38 min/mile over the 13.36-mile course. She placed 6th in her F60-64 age group out of numerous competitors, a notable achievement considering the harsh elevation gains from 6,303 to 14,061 feet throughout the race. Wendy started strong, quickly improving her standing from the start, where she was 28th in her division, to a consistent position between 4th and 6th throughout the race. Notably, her pace showed consistent effort across all segments. Her slowest mile pace was 35:46 towards the finish, indicating the challenging nature of the highest elevations. However, she maintained a steady position and demonstrated resilience throughout the demanding last miles. Continuing to focus on adaptation at higher altitudes could enhance future performances even further.
