Consistency and Determination Up the Ascent Quinn McGehan tackled the Pikes Peak Ascent, covering 13.36 miles with an impressive elapsed time of 4:29:36. Starting strong, Quinn swiftly moved from the start to Ruxton, reaching a top pace of 7:52 min/mile. They maintained a solid pace up to Hydro Street, ranking 208th overall there. As elevation increased, Quinn's pace adjusted, notably dropping to 27:17 min/mile by A-Frame, situated at over 11,900 feet in elevation. Throughout the ascent, Quinn exhibited a consistent effort, particularly during the later high-altitude stages, reaching the finish line at 14,000 feet elevation in a commendable position of 646 out of 2049 participants. Despite tougher conditions, Quinn progressed steadily from Bottomless Pit upward, covering the final mile with notable persistence. Focusing on refining uphill technique in high-altitude conditions could potentially enhance future performances in similar challenging environments.
