Consistent Climb to the Finish Bernard Gillett completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent, covering 13.36 miles in a total time of 4:53:52, averaging a pace of 21:59 minutes per mile. Throughout the race, Bernard effectively maintained steady progress, seeing a consistent improvement in his standings in the O55-59 division, finishing 28th in his age bracket. Starting strong at Ruxton, he achieved a split pace of 8:14 per mile and ranked 7th in his division there. The segment between Barr Camp and Bottomless Pit featured a commendable improvement, where Bernard quickened his pace to 14:10 per mile. Despite the challenges posed by rising elevations in the final stretches, Bernard demonstrated endurance to finish at 14,061 feet. Notably, a stronger strategy in the early stages might further optimize performance to counteract diminishing pace at higher altitudes. Focused training on varied incline speeds could enhance overall results in future ascents.
