Perseverance Through Altitude Challenges Jennifer Rankin completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon with an overall time of 5:13:33. The 13.36-mile course, starting at 6,303 feet and culminating at 14,061 feet, presented demanding ascent challenges. Jennifer's average pace was 23:28 per mile. Her performance placed her 1,111th overall out of 2,049 participants, 342nd in the female category, and 49th in the F45-49 division. She demonstrated early consistency, recording a strong-paced segment of 13:29 min/mile by Hydro Street at 1.23 miles. As she progressed, her time varied, notably slowing to a 40:06 min/mile pace at Bottomless Pit (8.77 miles), a high-altitude section of the course. Despite this, Jennifer improved position within her division, notably between the A-Frame and 1.5 Miles To Go segment. Her descent within time and pace in the latter stages suggests fatigue adjustments against altitude, highlighting the significant challenge of an 8,000+ foot elevation gain.
