Steady Climb to a Strong Finish Thomas Dean's performance at the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent was marked by a remarkable climb from an initial overall position of 115th at the start to finish 14th overall. He maintained a consistent pace, gradually improving his standings, particularly around the Ruxton split where he briefly held 16th overall. Notably, from "Bottomless Pit" onwards (mile 8.77), he sustained a strong position in the top 15, even breaking into the top 6 at the "1.5 Miles To Go" marker. His elapsed time was 2:35:18 with an average pace of 11:37 min/mile over the 13.36-mile course. Dean's performance included a significant improvement in his division, securing the 3rd place in the O30-34 division. The final push to the finish, despite worsening paces due to altitude and steepness, demonstrated his ability to stay focused under challenging conditions. Further focusing on pacing could enhance his performance at high altitudes, particularly in the final miles.
