Notably, as James advanced through the course, his pace reflected natural adjustments to the increasing elevation, rising from 6303 feet at the start to a peak elevation of 14,061 feet at the finish. At "Ruxton" within the initial stretch, his pace was 10:41 per mile, positioning him at 848th within his gender group. The progression to "Finish" saw a deceleration, common in higher altitudes, with a final split pace reduction to 42:21 minutes per mile. It’s worth observing that despite high-altitude challenges, James successfully navigated the elevation gain, consistently moving through checkpoints.
