Steady Elevation and Determined Finish Sam Wilhelm completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon with an elapsed time of 4:52:40, maintaining an overall pace of 21:54 min/mile over a distance of 13.36 miles. Starting strong at Ruxton with a pace of 9:02 min/mile, Sam demonstrated remarkable initial performance by placing 89th overall and 62nd in the gender category, climbing 51 places by the finish line. As elevation increased and the terrain became more demanding, Sam's pace understandably slowed, reaching 37:15 min/mile at the 1 Mile To Go mark, at 13,329 feet elevation. Despite the challenges, even in the later stages like the A-Frame and Bottomless Pit segments, Sam consistently maintained effort. Crossing the finish line at 14,061 feet with determination, Sam secured 47th place in the O20-24 division, indicating a commendable ascent through varied altitudes and terrain. Looking at the splits, there are areas to analyze for future elevation management and pacing strategies.
