Steady Ascent on a Challenging Course In the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent, Nate Roush completed the half marathon in 5:59:54, covering a distance of 13.36 miles with an elapsed pace of 26:56 min/mile. He achieved 117th place in the O45-49 division out of 2049 participants. Starting strong, Nate quickly improved his position from 1634th at the start to 1165th by the first checkpoint at Ruxton. He reached No Name Creek (mile 4.48) in 1:35:43, holding a consistent split pace around the mid-20s per mile until this point. The final three miles, rising above the tree line, proved challenging as expected. Between A-Frame (mile 10.29) and the finish, his pace slowed substantially, reaching 38:09 per mile during the final sprint to the summit. Notably, his ability to maintain performance over the initial stages before losing ground places a potential focus on adapting to high-altitude conditions and working on pacing strategies in the final elements of steep climbs.
