Strong Start, Challenging Finish Steven Gaunt's performance at the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent was notable for its strong start and determined finish. The half marathon course, spanning a distance of 13.36 miles, was completed in an elapsed time of 3:58:21 at an average pace of 17:50 min/mile. Starting strong, Steven reached the Ruxton split (0.43 miles) with a split pace of 8:28 min/mile, quickly improving his placement to 394th overall. By the Hydro Street mark (1.23 miles), he moved up significantly, positioned at 314th overall. As the race progressed toward the summit, the pace naturally slowed due to increasing elevation and terrain difficulty. The split at 12.31 miles, near the "1 Mile To Go" marker, recorded a split pace of 25:22 min/mile, with Steven holding a position of 307th overall. Reaching the finish line at 14,061 feet in 348th place, Steven's efforts were commendable throughout the course. Future focus could be on maintaining pace consistency in the latter sections of uphill climbs.
