Consistent Effort Amid Altitude Challenges Craig Schutz completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon in 5:38:36, covering 13.36 miles with an average pace of 25:20 min/mile. Starting from 1641st position, Craig showed steady progress, improving his standing to finish 1304th overall and 145th in his age division. His performance demonstrates good pacing strategies, even as the altitude increased. Notably, Craig's pace varied, from an impressive 11:01 min/mile at Ruxton to a more challenging 36:57 min/mile at the finish line. The ascent from 6000 to over 14,000 feet included significant elevation markers, like the 1 Mile To Go point at over 13,000 feet. Craig remained consistent between the '1 Mile To Go' and 'Finish', despite facing the steepest inclines and highest altitudes. Future focus on pacing in high altitude sections could aid in maintaining speed during the final miles.
