Consistent Climb Despite Altitude Challenges Felipe Martinez completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon in an impressive 4:25:44, covering 13.36 miles with an elapsed pace of 19:53 min/mile. Starting strong with a split pace of 8:00 at Ruxton, he exhibited solid pacing strategy through the early stages. As he ascended, the high altitude and steep slopes understandably led to a significant increase in split times, peaking at a split pace of 30:09 in the final stage. Notably, Felipe's position experienced variations as altitude effects intensified. He began at 157th overall at the start, maintaining a relatively stable position in his division and gender rankings through Hydro Street and Barr Camp. However, the more challenging sections saw a gradual decline in his placements, concluding the race in 608th place overall. Adapting pacing strategies in accordance with the changing terrain might aid in sustaining positions in future high-altitude events.
