Significant Improvement in Challenging Trail Conditions Markus Moeder-Chandler completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent in an impressive 4:04:27, showing notable improvement from his previous race, where he finished in 4:23:04. His overall pace was 18:17 min/mile, faster than the previous year's pace of 19:41 min/mile. Competing in the open division for ages 40-44, Markus finished 43rd out of 2049 total participants, highlighting his strong performance in his age group. In this year's race, Markus started strong, with a standout split pace of 7:41 min/mile at the Ruxton checkpoint. Throughout the ascent, especially after reaching elevations above 10,000 feet, his pace naturally decreased, as expected in such intense conditions. The split from Bottomless Pit to the A-Frame, for example, showed a slower pace of 22:58 min/mile. Nevertheless, Markus maintained his position, finishing with improved placements overall and in his division. Continuing to build on his pacing strategies may benefit future races.
