Steady Ascent with Room for Strategic Focus Ahead Nathan Schmoekel completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon at an impressive elevation, finishing in 4:29:04. His pacing showcased consistency, particularly between the early checkpoints such as Ruxton at 9:37 pace and Hydro Street at 11:29 pace. Nathan made significant progress in the first half, climbing rapidly in the rankings, descending from 809th place at the start to 596th by Barr Camp. However, in the final miles, where the course terrain becomes steepest and climbs above tree line, Nathan's pace naturally decelerated to above 30:00 min/mile, indicative of the common challenge faced even by experienced runners at such altitudes. He maintained a dedicated effort, finishing strong despite the slowing paces up to the finish. Focusing on maintaining pace in the latter stages without significant drop-offs could provide further improvements, particularly as he neared the higher altitudes of the course.
