Dominant Victory with Consistency and Strength Brian Whitfield of Gunnison, CO, delivered an outstanding performance at the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent, securing first place overall out of 2049 participants with an elapsed time of 2:13:31 and an average pace of 9:59 min/mile. Early in the race, Brian demonstrated impressive speed, maintaining the leading position from the Ruxton split onward. Strong pacing was evident as he climbed from the starting elevation of 6,303 feet, progressively advancing to the finish at an elevation of 14,061 feet. Brian's splits showed remarkable consistency with a strong initial set, including a notable 5:27 min/mile split pace to Ruxton. His capacity to maintain a considerable lead particularly at key points such as Barr Camp and A-Frame stood out, solidifying his first-place finishes across all divisions. As the altitude increased, a slight slowing of pace was observed towards the challenging final miles, allowing for strategic energy preservation crucial for steep inclines.
