Consistent Climb at Pikes Peak Patrick Kihara, 54, completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon with an elapsed time of 5:31:30, covering a distance of 13.36 miles and securing 83rd place in his division (O50-54). Kihara navigated the steep ascents, starting strong with a split pace of 10:29 min/mile at Ruxton before adjusting to the increasing altitude and slope. Impressively, he improved his rank mid-race, climbing to the 451st place in the division with a split at 1.5 Miles To Go, despite the daunting altitude of over 13,000 feet. The final push from 1 Mile To Go to Finish reflected an escalating challenge, with split paces increasing from 34:20 min/mile to a taxing 46:08 min/mile as Kihara neared the summit at 14,061 feet. Suggestion for future races: focus on maintaining a steady pace in the later, demanding stages to conserve energy and prevent substantial slowdowns.
