Consistent Performance with Notable Improvements Kyle Husted, age 26 from Colorado Springs, CO, completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon with an elapsed time of 3:45:00 over a distance of 13.36 miles, maintaining an overall pace of 16:50 min/mile. In comparison to the previous year, Kyle improved his overall standing from 244th to 251st out of 2049 participants, showcasing consistency in high-altitude conditions. Notably, Kyle's beast mode was activated during the first half mile, securing an initial burst with a split pace of 7:20 min/mile at the Ruxton checkpoint. In a comparison of splits, it's evident that the altitude affected pace in the latter stages of the race, particularly from the Bottomless Pit to the summit with progressively slower paces, including a split pace of 24:38 min/mile near the 1.5 Miles To Go mark. While maintaining a competitive position, consistent pacing in later miles could further accelerate improvement, especially in the steep climb sections above 10,000 feet elevation.
