Strong Performance with Resilient Mid-Race Push AJ Schultz completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon with a total elapsed time of 4:36:42, covering a distance of 13.36 miles at an average pace of 20:42 minutes per mile. Starting strong, AJ moved from 1505th place at the start to 725th by the finish among 2049 participants, showing substantial improvement in rank over the race. The steep elevation gain from 6303 feet at the start to 14061 feet at the finish challenged AJ, especially in the final three miles above the tree line. AJ's pacing was notably effective in the early sections; they reported rapid improvements in standing, with significant advancement to 735th place early at Ruxton and holding a consistent position through to Bottomless Pit. A slower-paced final stretch is an opportunity; the 32:03-minute mile to the finish suggests that additional high-altitude training could foster improvements.
