Solid Persistence on a High-Altitude Course Curt Hall crossed the finish line of the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent half marathon with an impressive elapsed time of 5:16:09. Challenging his endurance and stamina, he navigated the 13.36-mile course at an average pace of 23:39 min/mile. Throughout the race, Hall consistently progressed, overcoming the demanding elevation changes, and ultimately achieving a commendable 73rd place in the O50-54 division, out of a total of 2049 participants. Hall’s performance notably fluctuated with altitude changes, notably losing a number of places early but recovering as the event progressed. Starting strong, he was ranked 15th in his division at the start, dropping initially by Ruxton, but made significant progress between the "1 Mile To Go" and "Finish" markers, gaining positions and demonstrating a persistent finish. While the splits show varied pacing, particularly through the tree line, focusing training on elevation gain could help enhance future performance on such terrains.
