Consistent Excellence at High Altitude Mike Engelhardt, age 55 from Los Alamos, NM, demonstrated remarkable improvement at the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent. Completing the half marathon in 3:01:14, he achieved an impressive elapsed pace of 13:33 min/mile over the 13.36-mile course. His efforts earned him first place in the O55-59 division, rising to 53rd overall among 2049 participants. Particularly notable is his consistent lead in the O55-59 division from the Ruxton stage to the finish line, maintaining the first position throughout. Engelhardt's performance showed improvement over the previous year's results, where he finished with a time of 3:10:44 and a pace of 14:16 min/mile. His progress is clearly marked in his early splits, as he moved comfortably from 128th place at the start to an overall 49th finish in the open gender category. With strength in altitude gains, especially between 'No Name Creek' and 'A-Frame,' Mike proved his endurance even at the most grueling elevations.
