Resilient Climb and Strong Finish in Pikes Peak Ascent Kirby Thompson from Colorado Springs completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent with a time of 4:50:59. Covering a challenging 13.36 miles up to the summit at 14,061 feet, Kirby maintained an overall pace of 21:46 minutes per mile. Starting from an elevation of 6,303 feet, they showed consistent effort, especially in the higher stages of the climb. Despite a slower start, where they were positioned 1282nd overall, Kirby made strategic advancements, ultimately finishing 886th in the overall category among 2049 participants. Their performance was steady through the middle sections with noteworthy improvements in positions after reaching Barr Camp. Kirby was 54th in the 50-54 division, indicating strong competition. The toughest final miles saw a strategic and patient approach in altitude, observing split paces between 24:19 and 29:33 minutes per mile. Further emphasis on acceleration in the initial stages could improve overall race outcomes, yet the ascent displays a commendable and tactful management of such a demanding course.
