Consistent Elevation Gain Improvement Jason Abernathy displayed notable progress at the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent Half Marathon. Completing the course in 5:17:45, he outperformed his previous year’s time by 54 minutes and 30 seconds. His average pace improved significantly from 27:51 min/mile in 2024 to 23:47 min/mile in 2025. Navigating the extreme elevation change from 6,000 to over 14,000 feet, Jason climbed through splits with noteworthy paces at lower segments, hitting 9:48 min/mile at Ruxton. Overall positioning improved from 1416th to 1147th in the entire field of 2049 participants. Special recognition is warranted for his split at "Barr Camp," where he achieved a 14:14 min/mile pace. While Jason faced increased challenges in the higher altitude segments, focus on pacing strategy in these challenging areas could further enhance his performance.
