Consistent Effort Shines Through Challenging Elevation Gain Rose Furio completed the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent in 6:05:21, covering a distance of 13.36 miles. Her average pace was 27:20 min/mile, earning her 21st place in the F60-64 division. Starting strong, Rose held onto 2nd place in her division early on at the Start (elevation 6303 feet). She encountered significant shifts, moving to 25th by the Ruxton checkpoint. Along the course, especially after Barr Camp and in the last two miles above 12000 feet, her pace slowed significantly due to the challenging elevation changes. Despite a dip to 21st place in her division towards the end, Rose displayed resilience, maintaining division placement through to the Finish at 14061 feet. The altitude affected pace, particularly evident between checkpoints such as the 1.5 Miles To Go and the Finish, with her pace fluctuating above the 35 min/mile mark. Future strategies could focus on altitude training for a steadier pace during high-altitude portions.
